Since 2004, London gallery Elms Lesters Painting Rooms has been in the vanguard showing graffiti art, exhibiting the work of such names as Futura, Delta, Space Invader and Kaws.

Graphic designer Iain Cadby has enjoyed a unique collaboration with the gallery and its artists and this book documents the graphic design which accompanied their exhibitions between 2008 and 2014.

Divided into twelve colour coded sections each examining a different project, the book contains not just the final beautifully photographed work, but also drawings, scatter proofs, early developmental designs, rejected designs, gallery shots and written descriptions of the process.  Showing the hidden challenges and behind the scenes production details that as working documents usually remain unseen.

Iain Cadby is a graduate of the London College of Communication and Central Saint Martins. After leaving college Iain worked for four years at Why Not Associates where he worked on various projects including Charles Saatchi’s Sensation exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art and the first Why Not Associates book, published by Booth-Clibborn Editions. He has designed print work for the Science Museum, HSBC and the BBC. He has directed film work for The Economist, D&AD, Virgin Records, Barclays, The Royal Mail and Hewlett Packard. 

Gavin Lucas is a writer, educator and curator. He is a well-known commentator on design and illustration often giving lectures and interviews. He contributes regularly to Creative Review, Cool Hunting and is the co-founder of Outline Editions. He has written and edited a number of books including Guerrilla Advertising, Badge, Button, Pin, Make Your Own Luck by Kate Moross and Drawn to Drawing by John Vernon Lord
